I came to psychology through life experience. I grew up, played, worked and hunted on a bushveld farm, worked as a welder and then as a library assistant, studied part-time for a BA degree in Philosophy and English Literature.
I lived in London and worked in a centre for disabled adults until I was able to do a Masters Degree in the Psychology of Education. Early in 1981 I returned to work as a psychologist in the Counselling and Careers Unit of The University of the Witwatersrand. I moved into full time private practice in 1996.
Working with people of all ages and many cultures made me aware of how important Psychology could be in understanding better how to help people overcome their psychological wounds and develop their true potentials.
I think of myself as a psychological midwife, who is in awe of the miracle of life and who wants to help the trapped or growing psyche be born into new, liberated levels of being, safely.
